Western Filmscript Collection Database
The Western Filmscript Collection database contains information about more than 2000 filmscripts in the Yale Collection of Western Americana. The scripts, for films dating from 1918 to 2003, are all set in the American West. The database records include information about script titles, authors, the directors, producers, production companies, actors and distributors associated with the films, the settings of the scripts, and the dates of the scripts as well as box and folder locations. The script collection is described in ORBIS under the title "Western filmscript collection" (WA MSS S-1610). A finding aid containing a description and a listing is available online at http://hdl.handle.net/10079/fa/beinecke.westfilmscriptc, but the database provides the ability to employ Boolean search operators across fields of data to isolate relevant scripts.
The following fields may be searched using keyword or phrase searching: Title , Author , Director , Producer , Actors , Production company , Distributor , Date , Setting .
An asterisk (*) truncates search terms (i.e. searching for Natur* as a title keyword will retrieve records with both Natural and Nature in the title statement.) To combine terms within a search field, you may use an ampersand (&), to require multiple terms to be present. A forward slash (/) is the equivalent of a Boolean OR, requiring one or more of the terms to be present.
Comments, corrections, and suggestions for improvements may be sent to: George Miles, Curator, Yale Collection of Western Americana.
